A UNESCO Monument, Palazzo La Rocca is in the heart of Ragusa Ibla. Curious anthropomorphic creatures embellish its lavish façade, while the interiors still preserve the eighteenth-century furnishings.
Behind the cathedral of San Giorgio stands Palazzo La Rocca. A UNESCO Monument, it was built in 1765 by Don Saverio La Rocca, baron of Sant'Ippolito.
Its façade is unusual with eight balconies each of which supported by pitch stone ledges. Here, the characteristic Iblean Baroque anthropomorphic figures appear, such as the flautist, a woman with a child in her arms, and the lute player. The elegant and imposing entrance door opens onto an atrium from which a two-ramp staircase leading up to the main floor starts. The eighteenth-century furnishings are still visible there.
