Mazzaredi – our grandparents used to call Marina di Ragusa this. It’s the most important seaside resort in the Iblean province just a few kilometres from Ragusa. It used to be a fishing village, hence the name mazzarelli (a small village), and was used to ship goods. Then, it slowly began to expand and be appreciated by the locals. The nineties saw the first tourist development, but it was the opening of the beautiful Marina di Ragusa marina (it has 800 berths) that decreed its success internationally in 2009, attracting yachtsmen and women from all over the world.
Hotels, restaurants, bars, and small shops fill the city centre that overlooks the sea. Treat yourself to a regenerating morning swim in the crystal-clear Blue Flag 2021 waters or focus on sunbathing on one of the free beaches in the area – there is no shortage of chalets, if you prefer. Take an afternoon bike ride along the cycling lane built right next to the sea – what a view! – and in the evening, relax in one of the many restaurants on the seafront. For nightlife we suggest you move to the port – it is full of clubs, restaurants, and bars, where you can have fun until late.
