Heart of Ragusa Ibla, Piazza Pola is animated by tourists and locals. Admire the façade of the church of San Giuseppe, one of the most beautiful Baroque examples of the old district.

Going down from Piazza Duomo, along Corso XXV, you come to Piazza Pola. You are in one of the busiest and most beautiful places in Ragusa Ibla. In its long life its name has changed several times – born as Piazza Maestra precisely because it was very wide for the time, then it became Piazza Maggiore, then Piazza Savoia and finally, after the Second World War, Piazza Pola.

On one side you can admire the church of San Giuseppe, perhaps the most beautiful Baroque church in the Iblean district after San Giorgio, with the Benedictine monastery of the cloistered nuns. Next to it is the building that houses the separate municipal office of Ibla. Not far away, on Via Orfanotrofio, there’s another historic palace, Palazzo Diquattro.
