The Renaissance-style Town Hall of Ragusa. Admire the main façade with four bas-reliefs, and the small garden round the back.
Going down from c.so Italia, passing Piazza San Giovanni, you will come across the Town Hall of Ragusa on your right. It overlooks the expansive Piazza Poste, and together with the Prefecture occupies an entire Renaissance-style monumental block. It was built at the end of the nineteenth century but completed in the 1920s by Ugo Tarchi together with the offices of Government House.
A tip? Stand on the side opposite the main façade, look up and admire it. Above the windows of the first order, you’ll notice four bas-reliefs representing the arts and letters, the sciences, national wars, and municipal wars created by Carmelo Leone.
If you then go around the building to the facade on c.so Vittorio Veneto, you’ll discover a garden with tubs and a small column that ends in a three-sided sculpture. You should also admire the tower, embellished with decorations on top of which is the bell of the Fallen, which is sounded for national holidays.
